GPSD Wellness Plan

To support the relationship between student health and academic achievement, the 20014 Mississippi Public School Accountability Standards (Standard 17.5.1) and the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004 (PL # 108-265) requires each local school to establish a local school wellness policy. Mississippi Code of 1972, Annotated Section 37-13-134 requires the recommendations made by a school health council to be based on a coordinated approach to school health. This document seeks to satisfy these requirements.

Representatives from the district and the community who comprise the Wellness Committee met to review, revise, assess and identify strategies to ensure implementation of the 2017/2018 Wellness Plan. This plan received approval at the October 19, 2017, board meeting.
