School Improvement Grant

Eight schools in the state of Mississippi were awarded funds from the state's School Improvement Grant (SIG) program in which Greenwood Public Schools was awarded funds for three schools to help improve student achievement.

Greenwood Public Schools was awarded over $4.6 million over the course of four years to be distributed among our three eligible SIG schools; Threadgill Elementary School, Greenwood Middle School, and Greenwood High School. Each school was approved to implement the Transformation model.

Some of the benefits of the grant include:

  • Purchase resources to improve student achievement (textbooks, software, etc...)
  • Provide teacher/student incentives
  • Hiring extra support staff
  • Providing extended school/year program
  • Professional development opportunities for staff
  • Purchasing equipment for science labs (middle school and high school)
  • Providing support for new teachers
