SIG officer presenter at conference

Greenwood Public School District School Improvement Grant (SIG) officer Denina Flowers was a recent presenter at the 2018 Making Connections Conference (MCC). The conference was held June 6-8 at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum and Convention Center in Biloxi. MCC was an opportunity to join teachers from around the state of Mississippi who care deeply about bringing the best innovative and practical teaching strategies to the classroom.

Mrs. Flowers presented on June 7 to more than 75 educators. Topics of discussion included discussed how to build conceptual knowledge in mathematics. Participants unpacked some of the state standards in math and used several of the MDE documents as support to help plan a mini-lesson. Teachers were able to work together to share ideas on how to build conceptual knowledge and not just focus on the skill.
